Windows 10 End Of Life October 2025

As Microsoft prepares to end support for Windows 10 in October 2025, users and businesses are faced with an important decision: continue using the operating system or upgrade to a more recent version, such as Windows 11. The end-of-support date marks the point where Microsoft will no longer provide security updates, bug fixes, or technical support for Windows 10. While many users will wish to continue using Windows 10 due to familiarity, we have outlined a few reasons as why this is not recommended for home or business users.

Why It is Important to Switch to Windows 11

Security Risks

The most significant downside to remaining on Windows 10 after support ends is the increased security vulnerability. Microsoft will no longer provide security patches, leaving your system exposed to malware, viruses, and other potential threats. Over time, as new vulnerabilities are discovered, systems that don’t receive updates will become prime targets for hackers. For businesses, this poses a serious risk to sensitive data and system integrity.

Compliance and Legal Risks

If you're running a business, remaining on an unsupported OS could violate compliance standards or industry regulations regarding security and data protection.

Clients and partners may expect your systems to be running on supported platforms to ensure secure communication and data handling.

Incompatibility With Newer Software

As time goes on, developers will begin optimizing their applications for newer versions of Windows. Eventually, software companies will stop supporting Windows 10 altogether, meaning you could miss out on important updates and features for the programs you use daily. This could lead to reduced functionality or the need to invest in alternative software.

Decreased Performance

As applications evolve to take advantage of the features and efficiencies in newer operating systems, older systems can experience performance degradation.

Without updates to optimize performance, even minor bugs in Windows 10 could start to affect system stability or performance over time.

Is My Device Windows 11 ready?

The next questions you need to ask yourself is my device able to be upgraded to Windows 11 and while the answer maybe "Yes", depending on its other hardware, you may notice a significant decrease in performance after upgrading.
